Derry Clarke's Michelin-starred l'Ecrivain Restaurant pipped several of the major fine-dining restaurants, including Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, Chapter One and Pearl Brasserie.

Sadly, with the economic downturn, there has been some attrition among a number of talented French sommeliers who have been attracted to Ireland during the boom years.
Nevertheless, in close contention was Simon Keegan of the Four Seasons Hotel.Martina Delaney of l'Ecrivain Restaurant was voted Best Sommelier.Her wine knowledge and approachable style have earned her a well deserved niche in the hospitality trade here.
