Derry Clarke backs Industry Charity ‘Hospitality Trust’
5th October 2011, Dublin: Hospitality Industry supporters including Executive Chef Derry Clarke gathered today at the launch of Hospitality Trust in L’Ecrivain restaurant, Dublin 2. The Trust (formerly known as The Catering Trust) was established in 2000, to reach out to those in need in the Irish Hospitality Industry and this year has achieved full charitable status.

About Derry Clarke:
Derry Clarke, has been Chef/Patron of l’Ecrivain for over 22 years. He started his career in The Man Friday in Kinsale under Peter Barry in 1972 and moved to Dublin in 1977. He then spent four years in le Coq Hardi and a further eight years in the Bon Appetit before opening his own restaurant in July 1989 with his wife Sallyanne.
Derry, and l’Ecrivain have been awarded many accolades over the past 21 years, such as Best Restaurant and Best Chef Awards since 1999. Restaurant of the Year 2011 - Georgina Campbell. l’Ecrivain also has a Michelin Star which was first awarded in 2003.
Derry completed his time as Commissioner General at EuroToques, but remains actively involved with EuroToques still. Derry promotes the use of Organic Food & Non Genetically Modified Foods. Derrys food ethos is simple. He uses the finest of fresh local produce.
